Let's Make Pittsford Village Better for Walking and Biking
Walkability and bikeability are important to many in our community, including my family. In fact, proximity to our parents, as well as possibilities for walking and biking were one of the main reasons that we chose to buy a house in Pittsford Village when we moved back to the area.
In a Facebook post today, Trustee and Deputy Mayor Lili Lanphear mentioned her appreciation for the continued focus of our community and village government on active transportation. It is great to have public officials who are enthusiastic about initiatives such as these. I wrote recently about transparency, communication and trust, and I firmly believe that we can be more supportive of great initiatives such as this if we are unified as a community, rather than being divided against each other.
There is finally a draft document of the Active Transportation plan that can be shared. While it is pre-adoption and still subject to more review, I think it’s great to see this work-in-progress at such an advanced state. As Lili mentioned, it has been facilitated by a grant that was received five years ago by the village. A large steering committee has worked together on this draft in an effort to improve our village for pedestrian safety, bikeability and walkability. You can check out the draft documents below:
